What would you like to do?

Send or receive money with your card

  • Green Dot is not responsible if you send money to the wrong person. To protect yourself against fraud, do not send money to someone you don’t know or trust.

If you have sent money to the wrong email address or mobile phone, you should cancel the transaction right away. If the wrong recipient claimed the money you sent, the money cannot be recovered. To avoid this, be sure to double-check the recipient information before sending money.

  • You can send money to anyone in the U.S. as long as you have a valid email address or mobile phone number for the recipient.

    1. Log in and navigate to Pay Bills and People, then select Pay People, and go to Send Money.
    2. Enter the recipient’s name, email address or mobile phone number, memo, and the amount to send.
    3. Hit “Continue” to review the information before selecting “Send Money” to complete the transaction.
  • Recipients can load money to a Green Dot Bank issued card or a PayPal account. If the recipient doesn’t have a Green Dot card, they can get one online and load the money you sent to their temporary card number.

  • You should first ask the recipient to check their spam or junk mail folder if you sent money via email. If you sent money through text, make sure their mobile phone service is working.

If the recipient still does not receive the notification, you can cancel the original Send Money transaction and try again.

  • No. Send Money is limited to U.S. residents.

  • You can only cancel a Send Money transaction that is listed as “Unclaimed”. To cancel, go to your Transaction History, click “Cancel”, then confirm the cancellation.

If the transaction has already been claimed, you cannot cancel it and you will not be refunded.

  • You can send up to $2,000 in one day and $5,000 in 30 days.

If you have multiple Green Dot Bank issued cards, Send Money limits apply to all of them.

Temporary cards do not have a personalized name on the front. If you have a new prepaid card without your name on it, you must register it on your prepaid card provider’s website. Once you get the personalized card in the mail (usually within two weeks) and activate it, your personalized prepaid card will then be ready to accept MoneyPak reloads as long as it is from a participating prepaid card provider.
